What if you could change anything to the CAP uniform. What would you change?
I'd allow the boonie hat and orange t-shirt be authorized in the field, let cadets wear the silver nameplate on service dress, and let members wear blue berets.
Some of these are way off from being approved, but fun/cool anyway.

I would allow mirrored sunglasses and the USAF recently authorized the wear of a small electronic device while in uniform such as cell phone , PDA , etc. I would like this to be extended to CAP.

I would have to verify this in the uniform manual, but I think that I read something recently that CAP is now allowing you to wear one (1) pager, cell phone, PDA, etc. on your belt while in uniform.

Squadron Commander Won't allow them unless it is required, such as law enforcement officer on call 24/7.

Ok, here's what the regs say:
Seems like you can wear one of these items at a time. However, in your instance, if you're not going to be using one all the time at the meeting, just leave it off.

Boonie hats can be authorized for special purposes. In Michigan Wing, the wing commander has allowed boonies to be worn by members attending MIWG SAR Academy, but only when in and around base. Other than that, normal BDU covers are to be worn, especially when members travel into town and are in public view.
The reason the boonie is worn in this case (besides the wearing of a black t-shirt instead of brown) is to destinguish staff members from students.
So, in short this is possible for special occassions.

I looked in the CAPM 39-1 and it never says anything specifically about boonies but here are a few references. And this is the e-mail that our Wing CC sent out in reference to them. I hope this works, but if it doesn't I will send it to you.
